There will be times when it feels
like standing up for what is right
means losing all you have left.
In those moments, when your back
is exposed and the blush
of your lips is flush with the bricks,
a cold shiver creeping
down your ramrod spine
is nothing more
than the last gasp of defeat
from the shadows taking their leave.
And I hope you know a good thing
when you feel it.

Courage, it is said, is not being without fear, but having the fear and doing the right thing anyway. A feeling not meant to be missed.

Seeing you writing again fills my heart with joy. At the same time I feel the grief. And the courage. Those things are you. All of them.
