I am so overwhelmed
with the way I love you
and hate you
and look for you still.
I am overcome with the us
that never was, and the we
that never existed,
and I know that we, and us,
and I will be better off
when I close the door
to this nothing,
and pull the curtains
across the windows
I have left open, just in case.

Sometimes, it hurts, to sever off all the ties you’d had with that special someone, and because you still feel connected to or loved the person so, that is what makes it so very hard, but you have to keep on assuring yourself, that breaking up is the right thing to do, after all, if it wasn’t, why would you break up with the other person in the first place? There must be something about the two of you that doesn’t quite fit together.

Nicole, you know what sometimes happens when you’ve hit one of those places.
“That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. ”
Not her name, of course,
But who I think of at Poe’s words.
And Joni’s,
“Oh I hate you some, I hate you some, I love you some
Oh I love you when I forget about me”
And now, Nicole’s.
And if she still walked in mortal realm,
“I am overcome with the us
that never was, and the we
that never existed,”
I would still leave that door
And those curtains
Open.
Thank You, Nicole.

Nicole – a kind of love, and a kind of hate, and something that was and was not.
