The very first time your eyes met mine, there was a promise made, a guarantee given from my mind to yours that there will never be a day that I forget this moment.
There will never be a time when this moment means less because your eyes sing to mine like Etta James on a slow southern night, your eyes are the stars shining in the clearest night. There was a promise made, and I agreed without reservation or consideration, without a moment’s hesitation,
I agreed to live the rest of my life knowing
for an absolute fact
that love is real,
love is meant for me,
that the one person
that I truly need is you.
The promise was made, and I have never felt one second of remorse, not one thought of regret, I promised to always understand what it meant in all those fairytales, when the eyes meet and it was forever love at first sight… We get this one right.
No matter what has happened and no matter how our lives have twisted we have that moment, and we both believe in that moment, our eyes met at last and we knew it was home, that we were home.
And all of our pains and our troubles have stayed with us and our fears and our worries have never went, and our lives have not been easy, but every day when I look at you, here’s your coffee, here’s me leaving,
your eyes open and ask me again for a promise of forever and I cannot let you look away without falling to your hands,
I promise,
I will never see you
as less than
everything I need.
I promise,
I will give you every idea and motivation of mine, my dreams will wrap around your dreams until they become we and together you and I will face everything. I have willingly given you my entirety with every look and every word and all the moments
where I see your eyes
and hear Etta James
and we dance
to the music
in our minds and hearts.
You had me at the first look, the first breath. You have me with every look and breath since, until I am no more,
Because you make the same promise to me, every time I look at you.
